Learn to Draw with Islamic Themes Workshop (Nov – Dec 2020) – Completed!

We recently completed the very first session of the Learn to Draw with Islamic Themes Illustration course, Alhamdulillah! A total of 12 amazing participants completed the course!

Surah Al Fil Illustrations – Final Projects

For their final project, each participant had to utilize the skills they had learned during the course in order to illustrate a scene from Surah Al Fil. In order to prepare them for this task, we briefly discussed the tafseer of Surah Al Fil during class, specifically the story of how Abraha and his army were destroyed by Allah for trying to demolish the Ka’abah.

Below are their some of the final project submissions from the participants (in order of age):

Noor Rehman, 6 Years

Noor was the youngest participant in the class… She did a beautiful job showing the birds pelting the invading army with rocks in order to defend the Ka’bah.

Inaya Rahim Zulfiqar, 9 Years

Loved the soldiers holding the short swords!  Notice the elephant and horse refusing to move forward despite being poked and prodded by the soldiers.

Sumaya Blevins, 9 Years

Notice how much attention Sumaya has paid towards the shading, even between the hills… Wonderful work Masha Allah!

Ilyas Henshaw, Age 9 years

Ilyas did a great job with his illustration Masha Allah. Notice the evil smiles on the soldiers (Hehehe!)!

Ayn Rehman, Age 9 Years

Ayn did a terrific job with the elephants Masha Allah… She wasn’t able to attend all the classes, but still made the effort to watch the missed classes and kept up.

Wardah Kazmi, Age 10 Years

Wardah always likes to add some quirky little features to her illustrations which make you smile… I love the way the soldier is getting hit on his head with the rock. Lovely horse!

Safa Yousuf, Age 11 Years

Safa did an awesome job with the elephants and the shading. The colors are also beautiful, Masha Allah!

Sumayya Henshaw, Age 12 Years

Last but not least, we have this breathtaking illustration from Sumayya. Really loved the colors and the expressions. She did a great job with the elephant too!
