Remember! When we slaughter on ‘Eid ul Adha, it is symbolic of the sacrifice of Ibrahim (AS) who submitted himself to Allah whenever he was commanded to do so… Ibrahim (AS) left his home for the sake of Allah, then he risked his life for the sake of Allah, then he left his wife and child for the sake of Allah, then he was even willing to slaughter his own son for the sake of Allah! He was willing to do anything to please Allah. When we slaughter our animal, it should mean that we are also willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of Allah! We should try and imitate the submission and sacrifice of Ibrahim (AS). Let us not think that simply by slaughtering an animal, we have sacrificed for Allah! The two are not the same!
